Every year all of the children have their graduation photo taken individually and as part of a large group.

To celebrate the children leaving the nursery to go to school we provide a number of good practice methods to enable a smooth transition and also an opportunity to celebrate their time with us here at Magical Tree.

Learning all about school

To help and support your child to get ready for school the team start by introducing the topic of school through activities such as phonics singing sessions, taking the register, learning about the routine at school, small group times with other children that will be attending the same school and getting ready for P.E by themselves.

We also change our large imaginative room into a small group time/classroom area where the children can sit and get used to the school environment. We have a large amount of school resources from all the different schools that your child may attend.

Workshops for parents

Magical Tree also holds a number of workshops for parents to help with the transition from nursery to school. We host a Phonics workshop this is an opportunity to help parents to assist their child’s learning before they go to school. The last workshop we held we had over 25 parents attend with a 100% of them very happy that they attended and that is was very useful and knowledgeable experience that they would recommend to all parents.

Getting ready for school workshops gives parents the opportunity to meet other parents whose children are attending the same schools. It’s a great opportunity to ask any questions about their child’s learning style and their strengths along discussing the school routine.

School and Nursery Visits

We have been building great professional relationships with the local schools to enable the children leaving Magical Tree a smooth transition. This can occur in a variety of different methods.

All school teachers are invited to observe your child learning in our nursery environment and the opportunity to discuss your child’s development with the key person. The children really enjoy their teachers visiting the nursery as it gives them an opportunity to say hello and get to know them in an environment that the children are happy and confident in.

Your child’s key person will visit the school that your child will be attending. This is a great opportunity for the key person to see what the school environment is like so that they can discuss this with your child. We can also visit the school with your child depending on the school policy towards this.

Every year all of the children have their graduation photo taken individually and as part of a large group. This is a great keep sake for parents and families as well as a lovely opportunity for your child to be dress in full hat and grown. We invite all parents to be part of the photo experience.

Nursery Leavers Party

We like to say a big thank you to all the children and parents for attending the nursery so we celebrate by having a party. Everyone is invited to have lovely food, to join in with party games and enjoy a children’s entertainer. All children leave with a party bag and a certificate. It’s a wonderful opportunity for all parents to talk to one another and enjoy being together at the nursery on a Saturday.

Parents comments

“Thank you for all the love, friendship and fun you have shared with my daughter over the past year and half. She has loved her time here and has lots of memories and stories about her time at Magical Tree. She will miss you all.”

“Thank you for all the care and enjoyment you have given. My daughter has had a wonderful experience with you all.”

Transition documents

We also provide a Transition Document which informs parents and teachers of every child’s strengths and weaknesses and will form a picture of your child along with a summary of their learning and development stages. This document assists your child’s teacher in getting to know them both personally and academically, we complete transition documents which have academic standards, a keyworker comment, your (the parent) and your child comments in.

Children’s voice as they go to school

We like to ask the children how they have found their nursery experience. This gives them the opportunity to tell us their likes, events that they have enjoyed and if there is anything that they would change if they could.
