At Magical Tree Nursery we ensure 100% of the team are first aid trained, above the standards requested.
The nursery works towards the government’s legislation of the EYFS statutory framework and the EYFS development matters.
Early Years Foundation Stage (2012) states
‘Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.’
Here is a guide for your information.
The Early Years Foundation Stage states that providers must ensure that people looking after children are suitable to fulfil the requirements of their role. It also states that at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid qualification must be on premises at all times when children are present and must accompany on outings. At Magical Tree Nursery we have 100% of the team are first aid trained, above the standards requested.
Magical Tree Nursery management structure consists of the Manager having a Level 5 in management qualification and level 5 childcare qualifications as well as working towards a degree in Childhood and Education in Early Years and 20 years’ experience in childcare. The Deputy Manager has a degree in Children, Schools and Families and 7 years’ experience in childcare.
The EYFS expresses that for children under the age of 2 there must be at least one member of staff for every three children, one staff must hold a full and relevant level 3 and at least half of the other staff must hold a full and relevant level 2 qualification.
- Within the under two’s room, we cater for maximum of 12 babies with 4 team members. The team consists of 2 team members with level 3 qualifications and 1 level 2 team member who is working towards her level 3 qualification. And another team member working towards her level 2 qualification.
Over 2’s room
For children aged two there must be at least one member of staff for every 4 children, at least one must hold a full and relevant level 3 qualification and the others must hold a full and relevant level 2.
- Within the 2-3’s age range we hold a maximum of 16 children with 4 staff. This includes a level 6 practitioner and 2 level 3 practitioner and a level 2 practitioner currently working towards a level 3 qualification.
For children aged over three years, the ratio varies on qualification levels of staff. If a staff member holds a level 6, Qualified Teacher Status or Early Professional Status then they can be responsible for up to 13 children. Level 3 staff caring for children over the age of three may be responsible for up to 8 children.
- Within the over 3’s age range we have 1 level 6 practitioner, one level 3 practitioner, and 1 level 2 practitioner working towards level 3 qualification.
As you can see we more than fulfil government requirements, allowing us to provide quality childcare for you and your family, and giving your child the opportunity to reach their full potential within their early years in life.
When the nursery children partake in nursery outings we choose to lower these ratios that are requested by Ofsted as we believe the children’s safety is paramount. These ratios are;
- Under two’s – 1-1
- 2-3’s – 1-2
- Over 3’s – 1-3
Again this is above the standards that are required by Ofsted.
Many parents ask ‘what is the nursery routine like, are their opportunities for education as well as play?
